Teal House’s hunting lodge-style, with a part stone and part cedar clad façade, will entice goose bumps from the moment you arrive. With soaring Cheviot views and rolling hills that make your heart sing, Northumberland has a wild beauty all of its own. The property is set in the landscape of a picturesque walled garden that leads to wildflower meadows, a meandering burn and the open fells beyond.

The fusion of stylish interiors and luxurious fittings create a most stunning escape, perfect for couples and families. The light and airy open-plan living and kitchen area opens out onto a safari style decked terrace on one side and a private natural stone walled garden on the other. At the heart of the sitting room, is a roaring wood burning fire, perfect for curling up to with a glass of wine.

Each of the four dreamy bedrooms have been individually designed and include modern en suites with heated floors, crisp white linen and all but one feature private sunbathing terraces. Two bedrooms have en suite bathrooms, perfect for long soaks after scaling one of the surrounding Northumberland National Parks’ formidable peaks. There is also a handy study/utility room and there is also a ground floor WC and cloakroom.

The cook’s kitchen is well-equipped, with two ovens, an induction hob, microwave, quooker hot tap, dishwasher, large fridge, freezer, coffee machine, wine chiller, washing machine and tumble dryer.

The exterior perfect for balmy summer days spent with a good book in hand, toes dangled in the cool, trickling stream with a melody of birdsong creating the soundtrack to the perfect afternoon. The abundance of space means families and friends can relax to their heart’s content, with opportunities for everyone to find their own secret sanctuary within the house and its grounds.

Nature lovers will be enraptured by the abundance of wildlife on the doorstep; from red squirrel, tawny owls and Roe Deer on land and soaring eagles above. Rich in beauty and heritage, look forward to fishing trips, coastal walks or a round of golf at one of our championship courses. After a day exploring this stunning fold of Northumberland, return to Teal House for a hearty supper served by the log fire. There is parking on the drive for up to eight cars.

Getting there

  • By Car
    Follow the A1 north past Newcastle and on past Morpeth, keep following signs towards Alnwick. About one mile before the Alnwick turnoff, there is a small left hand turning towards ‘Whittingham”, take this and follow the lane for approx 3 miles. You will come to a crossroads with a cottage on the corner, drive straight ahead and down the hill for approx 1 mile, over Battle Bridge, past the turning for Edlingham and Hill Head and continue on this road for another mile. The drive for Teal House is on the left-hand side, down a small incline.
  • By Train
    The nearest train station is Alnmouth, which is around 15 minutes by car to the cottage. Alnmouth station is located on the North mainline and runs regular direct services to Kings Cross.
  • By Air
    Newcastle airport is a 45-minute drive away.
