Our second visit and we hope not the last. Keeper's Cottage is very much part of the wonderful holiday experience. Thank you so much.
Mr M, 21 Apr 2017
Returned for an early spring break. Lovely to do nothing in this super place. Visited Rothbury shops, excellent as usual and Barter Books - greatly enhances by buffet cafe. Many thanks to all.
Mrs O, 17 Mar 2017
A fabulous half term break - thank you!!
Mrs K, 10 Feb 2017
Fabulous cottage and location. We walked everyday - gales on Hadrian's Wall, sleet in Hulne Park and finally a glorious day on Lindisfarne. Magical!
Mrs C, 30 Dec 2016
We loved the cottage from the moment we entered. Gorgeous. Cosy lounge, superb dining table and marvelous fireplace.
Mr S, 23 Dec 2016
We had a wonderful time! Arriving the first day to these wonderful flowers, the lovely card and delicious home-made cupcakes, we felt immediately at home. Even the kids, who were amazed by the toys. Throughout our stay we enjoyed the gorgeous sunsets every evening. Such a lovely holiday...
Mr H, 08 Oct 2016
Agree with the comments below - we know the area well but Lemmington Lodge is the best accommodation we have experienced - and all the treats got our holiday off to the best possible start. Thank you Lydia!
Mrs L, 24 Sep 2016
We're regular visitors to Northumberland but this was our first visit to Lemmington Lodge and we all agreed that this was the best cottage we have ever had. Comfy beds, fab views. Many thanks to Lydia, Arthur and Susan for making our stay so enjoyable.
Mrs A, 3 Sep 2016
Fantastic weather, cottage, food, and company. Great time had by all.
Mrs D, 27 Aug 2016
Thank you - a wonderful place and very peaceful.
Mr H, 26 Aug 2016
We've had a wonderful stay at Keeper's Cottage - enchanted by Northumberland. Enjoyed the peace and tranquility and comfort of this beautiful cottage.
Mr H, 19 Aug 2016
Beautiful cottage and spectacular views. Had two wonderful weeks here with lots of sunshine! Enjoyed all the castles and beaches - favourite was Embleton Bay. Boat trip to Farne Islands was amazing - saw loads of seals, puffins, cycling and kayaking at Kielder, trip to Edinburgh, Warkworth Castle, Bamburgh Castle and a lovely dinner at the Treehouse restaurant in Alnwick. Wildlife spotted from cottage - pheasants, hares, deer, stoat and hedgehog.
Mrs S, 6 Aug 2016
A warm welcome from Lydia, a lovely homely cottage and a beautiful location - wonderful holiday!
Mrs D, 05 Aug 2016
Beautiful views, loads to see, huge gardens and just great location. Would definitely recommend to anyone!
Mrs P, 28 Jul 2016
Lovely cottage, no end of things to do. Really enjoyed Cragside, Embleton Bay and Hadrian's Wall.
Mrs W, 23 Jul 2016
This place amazed me with its spectacular views. I loved the sitting room particularly the stags head decoration. The bedrooms are superbly furnished and the beds were so comfortable. You have done a great job in welcoming us. :-)
Miss M, 22 Jul 2016 (aged 7)
Our second stay here and just as enjoyable as our first, thank you!
Mrs R, 9 July 2016
From the wonderful welcome (and goodies) to the lovely places to eat and visit - we can’t fault this idyllic cottage. What a truly lovely place to celebrate with friends. Thank you so much Lydia.
Mr W, 13 Jun 2016
Perfect extended week in Keepers Cottage. The cottage was perfect and our kids loved the garden come rain and shine. We have been up here to Northumberland since our kids arrived and we love it. Recommend Cragside, Alnwick Gardens and Wallington Hall. Beaches – you are spoilt for choice. Ross Sands is perfect if you can find it but Durridge Bay is also great. For lunch go try Nelsons at the Park in Swarland – great food! We will be back!!! P.s. Lydia is a great host, very friendly and helpful.
Mr C, 30 Jun 2016
The peace and tranquility of this superbly appointed Keepers Cottage gave us a wonderful week in rural wild Northumberland. Don't miss Gragside and Wallington Hall, Howick Gardens and the coast. The Jolly Fisherman at Craster (plus the smokery), Old Boathouse in Amble, The Tree House Restaurant in Alnwick and The Potted Lobster in Bamburgh are highly recommended.
Mr Achard, 10 Jun 2016
We have all had a wonderful holiday here at Keeper's Cottage. Spent most days on the beach, Newton by-the-sea and Dunstanburgh Steads our favourite. Loved the gardens and tea room at Howick Hall. Fantastic meal at Northumberland Arms in Felton (seems to be extra large portions). Stunning Cottage in a beautiful part of the world. Thank you Lydia and for the welcome pack!
Mrs A, 3 Jun 2016
On behalf of my family, I just wanted to let you know how much we all enjoyed our stay at Keepers Cottage last week. A really cosy and extremely comfortable cottage, all of us felt most at home there! I admit the weather could have been a bit warmer but that did not prevent us from visiting Northumberland’s beautiful coast and countryside. At least we had a fantastic log fire to warm ourselves in the evenings! A special thankyou also for the flowers, wine and delicious carrot cakes, they were much appreciated. I'm sure we shall return for future holidays! Thank you again.
Mrs B, 28 May 2016
A great week’s holiday, weather superb. Thank you for arranging that! Loved the sheep and pheasants.
Mrs P, Apr 2016
Have had a lovely week - weather has been kind and have managed lots of super walks. Fantastic views of the countryside - have thoroughly enjoyed watching the sheep.
Mr P, Apr 2016
I love staying here to escape and have some fresh air. I loved listening to the birds sing and there was a funny bird that kept tapping on the window. The views are just stunning. It’s a wonderful place to unwind. My brother and I found the garden great. We have still kept our fairy house in the garden for someone else to play with.
Miss P, Apr 2016 (aged 9)

Mr P, Apr 2016
We love this place and keep returning for our holidays each year. First time in Lemmington Lodge though and we loved it just as much. Beach walks still as great as ever and the boys loved swimming every day at the leisure center. Alnwick still has lovely local shops - we will return I'm sure of it!
Mrs B, 9 Jan 2016
Thank you so much for our stay of 5 weeks in deep mid-winter. Too many lovely places to visit, too much food and drink and fabulous shooting locally. Will be back next year.
Mr G, 23 Dec 2015
Very relaxing break. Lovely view and most comfortable cottage. Cragside well worth a visit - the drive through the grounds is very pretty with some nice walks. Lunch at the Treehouse in Alnwick is a nice treat. Enjoyed our stay very much. Thank you.
Mrs M, 19 Sep 2015
What a wonderful place to stay. The weather was amazing - as good as Cornwall! Looking forward to returning again next year.
Mr C, 9 Aug 2015
Wonderful stay made all the better for a great cottage. Recommend a trip to Etal and dinner at the Tankerville Arms in Edlingham.
Mrs M, 11 Jul 2015
A great place for a much-needed rest. Wonderful walks around Ingram. Locally the yellow outlined path is worthwhile. Meat pies from the butcher in Amble high street are really good!! As was the Thai Vibe restaurant in Alnwick. Overall a very enjoyable two weeks rest and recuperation.
Mr P, 7 Mar 2015
Wonderful peaceful stay. walked a lot, laughed a lot, rested a lot. Thank you.
Mr S, 10 Dec 2014
Wow! What a week, from the moment we saw the view from the lodge, visiting castle and coastline. We loved it! Many thanks.
Mr S, 27 Sep 2014
We've thoroughly enjoyed our first visit to Northumberland, not least because of staying in this excellent lodge. Thank you.
Mr S, 12 Jul 2014
Had a brilliant week, thank you! For the kids, having TV’s in their room was enough. For us we'll miss the view! amazing house, everything we could have needed.
Mrs S, 26 Apr 2014
Another great break in Northumberland and the weather a bit wild but mostly dry. Tried the Joiners Arms in Newton and the castle in Bamburgh for lunches for the first time - both good. still haven't decided whether we like Bamburgh or Alnmouth beaches the best. Added twist this week were walks west of Rothbury. Many thanks for a lovely house.
Mrs W, 28 Dec 2013
Our first stay here - it won't be the last! Beautiful area and so peaceful. Thank you!
Mr J, 6 Oct 2013
Dream lodge, fantastic location with plenty of wildlife. Weather kind to us so we can return recharged to the daily grind.
Mr C, 7th Sep 2013
Lovely to return to Northumberland - Lemmington Lodge a wonderful place to stay. Amazing views and great early morning alarm call from the peckers (pheasants). Thank you for all the nice touches - homemade cookies went down a treat! We hope to return next year.
Mr H, 24 Aug 2013
Thank you for the yummy goodies and flowers. Such a cosy haven, love it! Stunning views to stare at all day. Love the decor and privacy. Kitchen well equipped. Really enjoyed discovering the coastline. The girls loved counting the pheasants.
Mrs P, 16 Aug 2013
In our experience of self-catering this rates with the very highest, we love it here and would love to come back. I knew my husband and I could only relax if Mum (aged 92) was safe and comfortable and so we looked for a property with downstairs en-suite accommodation which had level access, plus we wanted a garden with a view for her to sit in. She has never been so happy, spending many hours listening to the birds, reading and marveling at the view. The property is immaculate, so well equipped. The log fire is a real bonus as is the view - breathtaking. The information boxes / books are very helpful - from these we planned our days. Beds are extremely comfortable and the bathrooms so clean, light & airy, and there is no shortage of lamps, televisions, books, logs and hot water. I cannot think of a thing you haven't thought of. It has been a privilege to stay here, thank you so much. Must add we love the sun room and became hooked on the quoits!
Mrs P, 01 Jun 2013
Great - Warm, comfortable and Clean. Gardens were a great hit with the children, enough space to have a good run around. Very comfortable beds!
Mrs T, 25 May 2013
Lovely comfortable cottage, location excellent.
Mrs E, 18 May 2013
A wonderful cottage which gave us everything we could ask for and more! Quality accommodation in a great location!
Mrs M, 25 Aug 2012
Whizzed up the A1 from London with our two young children in tow. Was such a nice surprise to find cots, high chairs and children's toys all set up for our arrival ... and perhaps more importantly a welcome bottle of wine! The cottage was ideal with loads of space for the kids to run about both inside and out. There is a childproof garden which was great as little ones can toddle about without falling off or getting stuck in anything! Really well thought out, allowed us both some time to put our feet up and relax without worrying. We've stayed in a lot of holiday cottages over the years but this one really is in a different league! It's totally immaculate and unbelievably well equipped. More like a boutique hotel really. Couldn't believe how well located the cottage was either. Peaceful location with unbelievable views yet five minutes from Alnwick and fifteen from the beach. What a find, we'll definitely be back!!
Mrs P, 04 Aug 2012
The Cottage is lovely, clean and tidy. Very welcoming with every appliance you could wish for in the kitchen which is fantastic. The beds are lovely and comfortable, in fact the whole cottage is. Loved the Mouseman furniture. The gardens are lovely to sit in and the back lawn good for badminton.
Mrs S, 07 Jul 2012
First impressions did not disappoint us. Just as your website advertised. Loved the location, to be in such a peaceful location was extra special. Well equipped kitchen. All our needs catered for, thank you.
Ms S, 16 Jun 2012
Very impressed! Everything was very clean and well presented. Particularly nice to find cookies and wine awaiting us on arrival! Grounds fantastic; ideal for children to run around. Our 20 month old grandson especially enjoyed the wildlife outside, "moo moos, tweet tweets and rabbits!" I'm a keen cook and found the kitchen very well equipped. The cottage and grounds were child friendly and also very comfortable for adults!
Mrs C, 9 Jun 2012
Keeper's Cottage is a lovely old local-stone building well tucked into the hillside. It is well furnished and has a good range of flexible lighting but it has not been over-modernised. It feels comfortable in so many ways. The entrance / sun-room makes a good wet weather reading room as well as providing good space for boots and outdoor clothing. Both inside and outside it is well maintained and the garden is eminently useable. The welcome pack was well received and the kitchen is particularly well equipped. Excellent space, lighting and furnishings (including two sofas) plus convenient location - close to shops but not too close!
Mrs G, 1 Jun 2012
Wonderful!! We love cooking and the cottage was more than well equipped - it's obvious that lots of careful consideration has been given over appointing the cottage. Bedrooms & living areas are extremely well appointed, very luxurious, like staying in a boutique hotel!! Wonderfully still and calm!! Loved the ipod speakers - great sound system in every room! Free Wifi great touch!!
Mrs M, 12 May 2012
Keeper's Cottage is stunningly situated with marvelous views, the cottage itself is delightful and fabulously equipped. It is beautifully and tastefully decorated with many lovely ornaments, my personal favourite was the "Mouseman" dining table and chairs. The area is great, with Alnwick being close for supermarkets. A wonderful stay but too short! Thank you.
